Teaching Sam and Scout

This coming week is Spring Break for the kids and me, and I am SO SO happy. The last few weeks have been super busy at school, so a break is much needed… I’m hoping for lots of sunshine, lazy mornings, park days, play dates, and early bedtimes (also, hopefully, some blogging!!!).  I feel relaxed just *thinking* about it!

Tonight, we will dye eggs (of course); and, I’m thinking of trying to make Resurrection Rolls for tomorrow. Send me all your advice if you’ve made them before!

Until then, here are some links & likes to kick off your weekend…

Links:

“Stay Up As Late As You Want… If You’re Reading” – I couldn’t agree more with this “rule.” Much of my own reading life was developed in the wee hours of the night, and I hope both of my own kids will experience the same thing as they grow up! (I also loved what Gabby said about reading material that was “over her heard” or “inappropriate.” I totally agree.)

Another fun bracket – of Pixar movies – for the whole family to get into the March Madness mania. (My final four: The Lion King, Toy Story,  Inside Out, and … Coco – have you seen it?)

“It’s Time to Tell Your Kids It Doesn’t Matter Where They Go to College” – I linked to this article on Facebook this week, and it got more shares than anything I’ve ever posted before… This is a message I’ve been telling my students for a while now (in fairness, they are super-motivated, hardworking kids, so they lean more towards being anxious overachievers than underachievers, but still); it’s something I’m passionate about, and I sincerely hope the idea becomes more accepted before I have to do the college search with Sam in 12 years. (12 years?!?!?!) *This is a short read, so if you skip everything else I’ve posted here today, go read this one!

“The Biggest Chick-fil-A in History Is about to Open in New York City” (and it is faaaaancy) – for my fellow CFA lovers!

I am so enjoying the new trend of tie-waist tees (like this one) and twist front tees (like this one) for spring — perfect for camouflaging my “mummy tummy.”

Chompers Podcast  – Anne Bogel shared this fun twice-daily show for kids that lasts two minutes and is designed to help kids brush their teeth thoroughly. Genius idea.

I just added another book – this one – to my To Be Read list. (It is sooo long right now!)

Also, I just bought this on Audible and this one is on its way to me from the library. #springbreakbooks

Did you see that Emily Ley released a study guide & video series to go with Grace Not Perfection?

Now, your turn… What are you loving this week?

And Happy Easter tomorrow!

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” – 1 Peter 1:3
