Meet Amelia (Lularoe Review + Giveaway)

Full Disclosure: 1.) My friend Katie, who sells LulaRoe, sent me this dress for free to review. 2.) I get that, if you’re anything like me, your Facebook page is covered in LulaRoe these days, and you – maybe – are a tiny bit over it. 3.) But, you guys, I do REALLY like this dress (plus, I’m giving away a free one AND sharing a coupon code for $5 off at the bottom of this post)!

So, friends, meet Amelia*.

*Amelia is the name of the dress.

**Obviously, taking these photos at a busy marina at the beach wasn’t awkward at all; and, I assure you, Jeff was thrilled to take them. 😉

For real, though, it’s my new favorite dress this summer and one of the best I’ve found in a long time.

Here’s what I love:

It is modest – short sleeves, higher neck line, and hits at the knees – and comfortable, but still stylish and flattering. I love the exposed zipper in the back and the fact that it has POCKETS!

It is well made. Based on my prior experience with LulaRoe’s buttery soft leggings (which, by the way, are the softest things ever; but, not particularly flattering on my figure), I was expecting this dress to be a similar jersey-like material. Not so. I was surprised by how nice the material is… It has a little texture to it, which makes it look a bit fancier and almost completely wrinkle-resistant (excellent for someone who NEVER irons, like me); and it is much thicker than I was expecting, not at all see through, and not super heavy or hot. The pleats are flattering (in my opinion) and the structure and tailoring of the dress makes it look a lot more expensive than it is.

It is versatile and easy to dress up or down. I’d totally wear this dress to work with flats and simple stud earrings, a wedding with heels and gold accessories, or strolling at a marina (clearly) with sandals and a straw bag.  😉

It is original. One of my favorite parts about LulaRoe is that all of their fabrics are one-of-a-kind. So, while a few other lucky folks might end up with a similar dress, I’m not going to see tons of other people posting photos in it or show up wearing the exact same dress as someone else at an event – like I might with something I bought at the mall. I love the bright, fun patterns LulaRoe is known for, but there are also plenty of more “basic” looks too if that’s more your thing.

It’s reasonably priced and supports good people. The Amelia dress is one of the more expensive items from LulaRoe at $65, but it’s still a pretty great price for a quality dress and definitely worth it in my opinion. More than that though, I like that buying from LulaRoe supports female entrepreneurs, like my friend Katie who is a mom of two living in Boston with her YL Area Director husband, and gives them the power to meet financial goals, prioritize their passions, and work when (and where) it works for them! According to the website, the mission of LulaRoe is: “to provide an opportunity for people to create freedom by selling comfortable, affordable, stylish clothing, and offering its consultants the independence to set their own pace and schedule.” That’s a mission I can get behind. 🙂

So… How can you get your hands on one of these beauties?

*Contest is open to US readers only. It will run through the weekend, and a winner will be announced some time Monday, 6/26. Winner can choose any dress posted during online sale at LulaRoe Katie Bowling during the month of July.

P.S. One quick note about Katie’s group… I joined it when she first launched several months ago and have, honestly, not been annoyed once. Her graphics are cute and clean, she posts sales consistently on Monday nights, doesn’t overrun my wall, isn’t pushy at all, and occasionally shares adorable videos of herself unboxing or cute pictures of her kids. I can confidently encourage you to join her group without fearing that you will regret that decision later. For real.
