Since you guys seemed to like my Wish List for Baby #2 earlier this week (did you read my response yesterday?), I thought it might be fun to talk about ways to spoil a new or expecting mom today!! So, just for fun … And because I’m pretty sure Jeff hasn’t bought anything for my stocking yet. 😉
Fitbit Flex – I admit, I haven’t been wearing my Fitbit recently, but walking is one of the best exercises you can do when you are pregnant and it is one of the easier ones to squeeze in once you have a new baby and need to lose a few pregnancy pounds… I love that the Fitbit makes getting in your daily steps more like a game, and the new colorful bands are super cute!
Kindle Paper White – This is a bigger gift (though mostly small enough to fit in a stocking), but it is one of my NUMBER ONE MUST HAVES for new moms. Seriously, if you are expecting and don’t have an e-reader of some sort, just trust me and PUT THIS ON YOUR LIST RIGHT NOW. You will have a lot of time for reading during late night (not to mention all day) feeding sessions and the fact that you don’t have to balance a heavy book, flip pages, or turn on the light to see is HUGE. Also, I love that you can buy a new book at 2AM when you finish another. Seriously, just do it.
Essential Oils – I haven’t tried these myself yet, but I have lots of pregnant friends that swear by Peppermint (for digestion) and Lavendar (for sleep). *Note* I’ve heard from a couple of readers that peppermint can have a detrimental affect on milk supply so those late in pregnancy or nursing should avoid it. FYI.
Gift Cards – Starbucks, a pedicure, a pre-natal massage, Target… You can’t go wrong with a good gift card!
Head Wraps & Hair Accessories – Two Words: baby.bangs. (And two more: infrequent.showers.) The End. (How cute is this one?!)
Personalized Jewelry – Jeff gave me a necklace with Sam’s initial when he was born, and I still wear it often. I love this bar style and the asymmetrical pendant – both under $40.00.
Netflix Subscription – I, for one, am saving the entire Gilmore Girls series for my days at home with a baby. #cantwait
Amazon Prime Subscription – For DIAPERS & all the other things you absolutely need after the baby arrives — Free 2 Day Shipping & you won’t have to leave the house!
A Cute Pouch – I didn’t carry a purse for months after Sam was born, just my trusty diaper bag. BUT, it is nice to have a little something to carry your personal items (think id, cards, cash, chapstick, and cell phone) in your bag – bonus if it’s cute enough to carry as a clutch when you are out and about solo.
A Day Planner – To keep track of doctor’s appointments, play dates, to-do lists, etc. (I’m planning to use a Weekly Simplified Planner by Emily Ley, but I think she’s sold out and I’m kind-of loving these cute styles from Sugar Paper at Target right now!!)
*Bonus* I’m also asking for a Pregnancy Support Band – to wear when I’m exercising etc. now and to help with healing (and shrinking) after baby, but it isn’t very glamourous so I left it off the official list. Haha! Does anyone have any experience with one of these?
Are you an expecting or new mommy this holiday season?!?! What would you add to this list?
Happy “Bump” Day!
E
P.S. In case you want more bump-action today, I’m over on Liberating Working Moms talking about how to “Dress Your Bump” for the holidays with outfit ideas for lots of different occasions using ONE plain black dress from Old Navy… I’d love if you joined me there too!
