Hi friends! Happy Saturday! And Happy Mother’s Day Weekend!
Thursday night the kids and I met up with my friend Trent for an impromptu photo session. Of course I love all the planning that usually goes into family photos, but I’m kind-of obsessed with how natural and imperfect these are — straight from school/work, no matching outfits (at least not on purpose), just real life in all its wild and crazy glory… I love these two little messes that made me a mom more than they’ll ever know!
Anyway, we’re off to the Spring Fling at Sam’s school this morning, then I have a date with my sis this afternoon to celebrate her birthday with lunch and pedicures (like true ladies of leisure – ha)! Tomorrow, we’re hoping to get outside for a family picnic, but we’ll see if it really is 90 degrees like the weather people say its going to be.
What are you up to this weekend? Something fun I hope!
Speaking of fun, here are some links & likes for your browsing enjoyment…
“The Opposite of More Isn’t Less… It’s Enough” – wise and true (her house is amazing too!)
“Dear Mom, You Need to Hear This Before Mother’s Day” – seriously, go read it now (I’ll wait)
“The Love Story I Never Thought to Tell” – on friendship, super sweet
For fans of S-Town – “Tyler Goodson Explains How S-Town Changed His Life“
Have you snagged a 2018-2019 Academic Year Simplified Planner yet?!?! They released last Wednesday (5/2) and, as usual, Emily Ley and team outdid themselves! I finally decided on a Mint Pineapple Weekly for myself, but it was so hard to choose – all the new patterns are gorgeous!!
Sam and I just finished listening to Wayside Stories on Audible. I remember liking it as a little girl, but I also found it HILARIOUS as an adult. Sam couldn’t get enough of it either. (These would be perfect for a family road trip!)
I checked out Body Love from the library after Rachel Hollis told me to (duh), and I’m really enjoying the smoothie recipes!
Two of these just joined my closet for spring/summer. They fit great, feel good, and are on sale!!
This is on it’s way to Nora for sunny beach days. Jeff hates it. What do you think?
Have you or are you going to see Tully? It seems pretty controversial, but I’m intrigued… (Also, I might have cried just watching the trailer.)
And one final shout-out…
I’m so excited to tell you more about Mac & Mia* – a kids clothing and accessory boutique that works a lot like Stitch Fix does. Basically, you go online and complete the Style Quiz for your kiddo (they have clothes for boys and girls up to size 10), pay a $20 Styling Fee, and a polka-dotted box of clothes selected just for your little one’s taste and lifestyle shows up at your door a few days later. You try it all out, pay for what you want to keep, and send back (for free) everything you don’t. It’s super easy, and – seriously – so fun! I recently got to try out the service, and my sweet stylist, Sarah, put together the BEST capsule of spring/summer clothes for Nora. I loved EVERYTHING! I told her I needed play clothes for a “wild little girl” and she nailed it. All the items in my box worked together for optimal mixing and matching, and everything could have been worn to school or church. (Nora’s shorts in the photos above are from my box. Don’t you wish they came in adult sizes?!?!)
Full Disclosure: most of the items I received were more expensive than what I typically spend on my kids’ clothes (the average cost of M&M items is about $35), but you really can tell they are well made and most of the brands they source are from small businesses owned by other hard-working mommas (so you can feel good about the money you are spending). You can request that your stylist stay within a certain price range when you order a box too! Also, FYI, the $20 Styling Fee is only waived if you keep up to two items, but, Nora and I had so much playing dress up with all the clothes that arrived and styling the precious paper dolls that came in the package that the $20 felt well-spent. This would be PERFECT for busy moms that don’t have time to shop for a special occasion outfit like photos, birthday party, or other big event OR for someone who wants to knock out their kids’ entire seasonal wardrobe with one quick click but still have quality, stylish things! If you’d like to give it a try (it’s not a subscription service, so you aren’t committing to anything), use my link to let Sarah get started creating the perfect box for you and get a $20 credit on your first order: Try Mac & Mia Now. Still not sure? Follow Sarah on Instagram and do some window shopping for a while! (She’s got a pretty adorable little guy you’ll like seeing pictures of too.)
Have a great weekend!
*I received a $20 credit to Mac & Mia and my Styling Fee was waived in exchange for this honest review. I also receive a $20 credit for all purchases made through the above link. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
