If I had to define a “summer uniform” for me, I’d say: flip-flops, 5″ chino shorts, and a v-neck tee. I pretty much wear that outfit 6/7 days a week. (No lie.)
If you look in my closet right now (or, err, in my laundry room), you would see probably 25 different colored v-neck tees. #sadbuttrue I just love them. They go with everything – skirts, shorts, jeans, cardigans, statement necklaces, etc. etc. etc. – and are relatively inexpensive, so it’s easy to stock up.
Given the above, I consider myself kind-of a “v-neck tee connoisseur” and thought you might like to see a few of my tees of choice:
1. Target – Vintage V-Neck Tee by Merona ($10.00)
2. Old Navy – Vintage-Style V-Neck Tee ($7.00)
3. JCrew – Vintage Cotton V-Neck Tee ($19.99 – $29.50)
4. JCPenney – Essential Spring Slub V-Neck Tee by JCP ($6.99 – $14.99)
5. Gap – Essential Short-Sleeve V-Neck Tee ($11.99 – 19.95)
And, because I need all the help procrastinating the unimaginable amount of unpacking and laundry I have right now that I can get , here are a few ideas for styling your simple v-neck tee:
Well, there you have it! Now, go buy some v-neck tees!

So cute! I never think to look for v-necks, I always just pick up scoop necks which doesn’t help with my round face much! On a fashion related note, since I’m fashionably challenged, I signed up for Stitch Fix and my first one is being delivered today. Have you tried it out?
And on a blogger stalker note, I had a dream about you the other nite….I ran into you on vacation…..you had no idea who I was obviously and my husband thought I was a total weirdo for trying to strike up conversation with someone who doesn’t know me! You can continue on your day now 🙂 Have a good one!

I LOVE this! If we ever did meet in person, I would totally not think you were a weirdo for trying to strike up a conversation! (I’ve actually met several “blog” friends that way. I love it!) Maybe one day your dreams will come true. 😉 Haha!

Oh, and also, NO. I haven’t tried Stitch Fix yet. I go back and forth about it because it seems like “all the cool kids are doing it,” and I’ve seen some really adorable clothes from there. BUT, I like to shop for myself a lot and their items seem a little bit out of my price range. (As you know, I’m an Old Navy and Target girl.) I’d love to hear what you think of your first fix though!
Allison says
Its waiting on my doorstep now but I peaked and the entire fix comes to $302 which is pretty much my entire budget for a season of kids clothes for Brielle or Braden Reed. Yikes! They sent me an animal print tote bag so that right off the bat might kill my chances of using the 25% off. Also, no matter how great it looks, I’ve never spent $78 on a shirt and there are 2 in my fix. I feel like I always by the same black pants, skinny jeans or colored cardigan so this is my attempt at branching out. I will let you know how it goes.

Oooh this is near and dear to my heart. I’ve just gotten interested in v-necks this year. I have several of those ON vintage ones and LOVE them. Fabric, fit, everything. But I don’t progress much past outfit #1– I definitely should try to incorporate them into more ‘professional’ outfits!!

You forgot to mention your strong opinions about guys and v-necks! (Or is that just undershirts?) Ha! Love your fashion advice.

I wish there was a “like” button for comments. 🙂
P.S. I especially prefer men’s v-necks styled with chest hair and chains. 😉

V-necks are the best! I was thinking this morning how I need a few more in my life, I mean, in my wardrobe.

Kohl’s is also be a winner in the v-neck tee department. 🙂 I too am a fan of the tee/chino shorts look in the summer!

Ok I love the v neck but I never think to put it with a cardigan!! I don’t know why I always pair a round neck with my cardi’s–but I think the v neck will be much better!! And can you share where that fun statement necklace is from in your first style board? 🙂
E says
The necklace is from Asos and is on sale for $34.00 right now. I don’t own it either, but I REALLY want it now too! (I’m loving the tassel trend and don’t have near enough of them in my life!)

V-necks are my spring and summer uniform, too. And I stretch them into fall sometimes…maybe..
I’ve always been loyal to ON and Target but recently discovered the marvelous-ness of LOFT’s v-necks. I don’t know what they do to the cotton but they are as soft as can be AND have slightly longer sleeves than ON and Target- so I feel more covered.
When you can catch a flash sale or something you can get them for basically the same price as other places, too.
E says
Ohh… I’m going to have to check out Loft. They are GOOD at sales for sure! 🙂

I want to know how you keep a white T-shirt clean with a toddler… or while teaching (hello, coffee, expo markers…). Also, I find that white t shirts are see throw on me. Last question… do you wear a camisole or tank top underneath your t-shirts?
I LOVE your style by the way!

I love v-necks all year round, they are just so comfy and you can dress them up or down. I recently purchased a few from Forever 21, I think they were $4 each! They do shrink though so don’t dry them or put them on low! Also buyer beware I own a few J crew vintage v necks and almost all of them have gotten small holes around the stitching. Super dissapointed 🙁 I now only wash them in lingere bags which is ridiculous but it works. I am going to try the readers suggestion of the Loft for v necks!

Love it!! And your response comments crack me up- totally agree that there should be a like button! Ha! V-necks are my fave. I am quite looking forward to wearing them post 25-lb accessory in the front.
