It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these huh? We are rounding out our two week stint at the beach by squeezing in all the best parts – ocean, pool, ice cream, shrimp, you get the gist – one more time this weekend. On Monday, the kids and I will head to Columbia, South Carolina to hang out with my mom and dad while Jeff does some traveling for work. I’m a tiny bit homesick for my own bed and a “normal,” routine, but I’m also super thankful for all the fun we are having and am looking forward to the extra time with my parents.
Anyway, lots of good stuff on the interwebs lately:
Links:
“Continuing to Live in the Face of Terror” – a good read (and one I can very much relate to) on raising children and moving forward in light of the last weeks’ events and all the scariness in the world.
“How a Mom of 9 Keeps It Together” – I totally trust her advice.
“Psychologists Recommend Children Be Bored in the Summer” – I’m definitely guilty of playing the “entertainer” game – especially since we’ve been on vacation for forever – but I’m planning a boring July. 😉
“The Rise and Fall of the O.C., as Told by the Creators” – Have I ever told you that I wrote my senior thesis in college comparing the O.C. and 90210? Yep. I’ve always been an academic. 😉 Interesting article for O.C. fans though.
“What College Recruiters Can Teach Your Child” – pretty much my battle cry lately. Love this.
“What I’m Wearing on the Road” – If you’re following Jones Design Company and her family’s epic road trip, and you think Emily has the best style ever, you will love this post about the 37 items she packed for four months of travel across the US.
Finally, I’m interviewed in this week’s “bonus episode” of The Mom Hour about being a teacher and a mom. My segment starts at about the 2 min. mark and runs until 28:00, but the whole episode – on working moms – is great! (Listening to yourself talk is basically a rare form of torture. I was WAY too chatty, and I say “you know” a lot, but… I got to share a lot of my heart, and I announced the topic of my summer ebook project…so there’s that.)

I’m ordering this as my new lunchbox for next school year. #ginghameverything
I bought this bathing suit at Target when I was with my friends, and it quickly became my favorite. (Buy One Get One 50% off right now — I also love this one!)
Did you see the new Emily Ley Personalized Shop? I love the tumblers and Great Day Plates.
I watched The Intern on Redbox last week. Cutest movie I’ve seen in a while. Rent it.
I adore this t-shirt for kids (and for adults).
There are REALLY good Kindle deals going on right now, lots from MMD’s Summer Reading Guide – I just ordered The One in a Million Boy and Daring Greatly, and I strongly recommend The Power of Habit, What Alice Forgot, and The Help if you haven’t read them.
Super cool idea for kids at amusement parks, water parks, etc. this summer.
And last but not least… If you haven’t already, make sure you check out my review of the Lularoe Amelia dress and enter to win one for yourself here! (By the way, THANK YOU for all the kind comments and positive feedback on the blog and Instagram! You guys know how to make a girl feel good.)
Have a great summer weekend!
