Sorry it has taken me SO long to get this post up. Better late than never, right?!?
That’s right, we’re having a sweet little GIRL, and we couldn’t be happier!!
Probably my favorite thing right now is imagining Sam in the role of big brother to a little sister… There will be almost four years between them which, to me, seems like the perfect space to have a protective older brother and an adoring younger sister… I used to dream of having an older brother when I was a kid. Now, all my dreams are coming true!! (Those of you that have been there done that, maybe let me just live in this dream stage for a bit, ok?!?)
Speaking of dreams, we had a simple little gender reveal party for our families about a week ago that featured Sam in the role of “Super Big Brother.” Jeff’s mom made him an adorable cape, and he broke into a super hero themed piñata that had been stuffed with pink confetti and candy to announce that he was having a sister. Unfortunately, my camera battery died that night and Sam was just starting to get sick, so I don’t have good photos… But the party was fun and our families are so so happy about our newest addition.
As of Saturday, I am 23 weeks pregnant. Other than last week’s nasty fight with the flu, I am feeling good and am SO excited to be welcoming a daughter into our family in just four short months. Everything feels a lot more real and immediate now that we know more about who SHE is. (Yes, we have a name, but we probably won’t share it until she arrives. Sorry!)
Plans to clean up the guest room start working on a nursery and buy all the things cute and monogrammed will commence soon. 😉 In the meantime, I’m soaking up this sweet time with my #1 and feeling grateful every day for the gift of being a mama.
Moms of girls, what do I need to know?!?!

Yaaaay! Congrats!! And I would be equally excited about the big brother/little sister/4 years apart thing. I also always wanted a big brother, so I will join you in your fantasy of perfection!!

Words cannot describe how much fun having a girl is! My daughter is almost two, and she has been so so so much fun! I love doing all of the cliche things like decorating a dollhouse for her, watch her play with her toy kitchen….not to mention all the cute girl clothes! AND I have two big brothers and it is quite amazing. Lucky baby girl!

Congratulations! As a little sister, I can tell you that there is no greater gift than a big brother. Even though all the fights and hard times, I can’t imagine life without my big bro! Now about having a daughter…just one word: FUN!! Little girls are spunky and girly and bright and just amazing. You are going to have so much fun!

I’d say that girls are no harder to raise than boys. They both come with equal but different challenges. Sometimes my son is WAY more stubborn and drama ridden. When the boys come first and then the girl, I laugh when I see a pink ruffles and bows explosion….like they had been starving, lol.

In your boys’ clothes post, I almost commented “wait until you have a girl” about shopping being fun … There just seems to be so much more out there!!
Anyway, I have a son, followed by a daughter (and now another son), and watching that brother/sister relationship form is the best thing ever! Pearl is like a little shadow to her big brother Malcolm and, for the most part, he loves every minute of it. I don’t have any special advice or anything … Just enjoy your kiddos together and separately! And post lots of pictures on this blog!! 😉
