This does not deserve to have a post to itself – it’s that simple – but, for what it’s worth, I wish someone had told me about it years earlier so…
If you love getting Christmas cards from friends and family but always feel terrible about throwing them away at the end of the year, meet your new best friend: the multi-purpose ring.
Basically, just store or display your cards however you want as they come in; and, then – at the end of the season – hole punch them and collect them on a big fat ring (or two) with your own (if you have one) on top to record the year. I throw mine in the bin with our Christmas decorations when I pack them up and am always happy to see them again the next year.
So far, we’ve done this for three years (see our little collections above from the last two), and it is SO fun to see how our friends’ families have grown and changed over time… Especially during this season of our lives, it seems like every year multiple people have added a new family member, moved to a new house, gotten married, etc. etc. etc. Plus, Sam loves looking through the cards and naming all his friends. – it’s a great way to help him remember out of town relatives etc.
You’re welcome. 😉

We do family yearbooks each year (forcing me to print out at least one picture of the year! And I feel like I take more pictures!).
This year, I’ve decided Im going to take a picture of each card that I receive and include it in the book- that way memories of other families we love are saved right with ours!
I love tactile paper though- so I might give your idea a try as well : )
Here is how we do our yearbooks : http://createbakecelebrate.com/2014/01/life-yearly-books.html
Only one week left until break! We will survive!
